Lab-on-Chip (LOC) technologies can strongly impact on food, agriculture and environmental monitoring by providing micro-total analysis systems (µTAS) for on-field analysis/detection of environmental threats, bio-warfare agents, toxins and allergens from food, industrial and agriculture products.
For agrifood applications, we optimized:
- EIS sensors for detection of allergenes, such as gliadin for celiac disease in flour or beer samples [M. S. Chiriacò et al., Talanta 2015, Vol. 142, p. 57-63, issn. 0039-9140, http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.talanta.2015.04.040].
- EIS sensors for detection of toxins or pathogens (such as L. monocytogenes or S. Aureus) in meat or milk samples [E. Primiceri et al., Analytical Methods 2016, Vol. 8, p. 3055-3060, issn. 1759-9660,http://dx.doi.org/10.1039/c5ay03295d; M. S. Chiriacò et al., Electronics 2018, 7, 347]
